My grandmother had osteoporosis and scoliosis, and both my mother and I have scoliosis. I was wondering if anyone knows a good plan for preventing osteoporosis? I realize it is genetic, but what are some good tips for keeping my bones healthy? Thanks. (More than just take calcium, if you please).

I asked the question because I heard on the radio tonight that phosomax (or fosomax) is prescribed for osteoperosis and because of some new problem after taking that for 5 years, doctors are suggesting that after 3 years of use that the patient needs to take a hiatis from the drug.

Personally I’ve been afraid to take calcium for fear it would build up in my system and cause deposits somewhere. Guess I just need to know more about osteoporosis.
