Well actually as of right now I have osteopenia, very close to osteoporosis. I was diagnosed about a month ago & since then I have been taking at least 1500 mg of calcium a day to try & rebuild the lost bone mass.

Im only 25 & this was caused by the depo-provera, birth control shot, prolonged use of it anyways…8 years. Doc said if I didnt get off the shot & start taking calcium supplements I would be crippled in 10 years. Osteoporosis is usually in old people.

They say it can be reversed, but how long will it take to get the bone back, & does it always reverse?? Have you ever heard of someone so young having it?

ANY HELP IS GREATLY APPRECIATED, I have been diagnose with several things in the past that “i am too young for”, so Im kind of worried.

I was diagonosed with Osteomalacia and was put on 50,000 units of Vitamin D (1 tablet per week) as I was tested by an Endocronolgist last week and she said that my body does not absorb Vitamin D. I was in the Hospital in July, 2006 for 5 days for 7 broken bones (unexplainable and NOT from a fall) and they told me that they THINK I have Osteoporosis and put me on Fosamax 70 (1 tablet per week). I really don’t think I have Osteoporosis as all of my Bone Density Tests have been normal. Does anyone have any info for me on the above? If so, would be greatly appreciated to hear from you. Thank you! I also will be discussing this with my Primary Dr. when I see him this Thursday, Aug. 31st.
